| Portsmouth 2012 Calendar. Pompey was formed in 1898 with John Brickwood, who was the owner of a local brewery. Pompey has played at Fratton Park since 1899 and has had varying success! The Pompey fans can be heard chanting the Pompey Chimes all around Fratton Park. The chants are said to date back to 1890’s and are attributed to the games played by the Royal Artillery.
