This particular statue, the Garden Cherub, stands within the pond gardens which contain various water features, pools and pond plants and vegetation. The pond garden cherub recalls a time in the palace's history when the gardens to the south were reserved for the exclusive use of the grace-and-favour residents. This whimsical putti is of a boy holding a bird made out of lead and installed at the turn of the 20th century.
