Cairn Terrier 16 Month Calendar. Until recently, the West Highland White and Yorkshire Terriers superseded it, this was the most popular of all of Great Britain's terriers! In the early 1900's, breeders were careful to retain the Cairn's natural shaggy coat, sturdy body, and terrier abilities.
This breed is equally at home either in the town or the country. It makes a good watchdog, and is easier to obedience train than many other terriers. The terrier temperament is, however, always there. Males in particular can be bossy, and should be monitored when meeting children for the first time. The Cairn's small size, good health and lack of stubbornness makes it a perfect companion dog.
