It is believed that this breed is one of the last great white guarding mastiffs which spread throughout Europe and this particular breed is thought to be related to the Italian Maremma, Hungarian Kuvasz, and Turkish Karabash.
This breed is quite popular in the western world, particularly North America, Great Britain and France.
